Thinking About Breast Augmentation Surgery? What You Should Know

by Alyssa Watson

Breast augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure in which you change the size of your breasts with an implant that is implanted in your chest, usually to enlarge your breasts, or just to change the shape of your breasts. If you are thinking of getting breast augmentation surgery, you should know a few things before you go in under the knife. Read on for some of these things.

Go With A Larger Size

If you're thinking that you just want to be a full B cup, you should go with a larger implant. By the time you're done, you may not be a B, you may be a very small B. You should go with a slightly larger cup size than you want. Your breast implants may not end up being that full size, and you don't want to be disappointed in the size you choose.

Take Your Time

Take your time when choosing what size implants you actually want to be inserted into your chest. You are going to have to live with the breasts you have unless you end up having another surgery, which most people don't choose to do. Take home some of the implants to try them out in your bras and wear them daily to see what size you prefer. Talk to your surgeon about taking home a set of implants to see which ones you prefer. Try them with different clothing to see how they feel.

Talk To Others That Have Had Surgery

You should talk to others that have had the same type of surgery to see about their experiences and what they would have done differently if at all. Find out about whether or not they regret the size they chose, or if they would have gone larger or smaller. If you talk to others that have had the same type of surgery, it may help you during your time, especially in the recovery period afterwards.

Have A Support System For Afterwards

You're going to need some support from others after you've had this surgery. You're going to need help getting dressed, showering, and moving around in the few days after the surgery. You're going to be in pain, and you're going to have bandages and stitches after the surgery. You aren't going to be able to lift too much, and you won't be able to drive either. You're going to need help from others, so be sure you have this support system in place.

If you are considering having breast augmentation surgery, there are a handful of things you're going to need to know. If you have questions, consult your plastic surgeon about what other things you should know.
